Laia Abril

Laia Abril is a 23 years old documentary photographer raised in Barcelona- Spain. She holds a bachelor's degree in Journalism and she studied photography through different workshops and master classes, such as Phillipe Blenkinsop from agence Noor and in the International Center of Photography in New York.

She has worked on documentary projects in the Balkans, such as Srebrenica and Kosova, first for a spanish NGO and then for a Spanish newspapers like Avui or El Periodico.

Also she has worked as an intern in the New York Photo Festival -May 2009- and as the Press Coordinator for the exhibition World Press Photo 08 in Barcelona.

In 2008 she got a scholarship of the International Photojournalism in Gijón -Spain-. In 2009 she was finalist of the Ian Parry Award participating in the Getty Gallery in London with her most recent photo project about the young lesbian community in Brooklyn.

She currently works as a photographer in Fabrica, Benetton's communication research centre.
